In the late 15th century, a deck of cards called "the Tarot" were first produced in Italy. This deck was believe to contain the entire esoteric knowledge of the Ancient Egyptians, it was comprised of 78 cards, 22 called the major arcana and 56 suite cards, or the minor arcana. Modern playing cards are derived from the 56 minor arcana cards.
